Take care of your feet!

Lately I've been with some calluses problems on my feet, I guess the combo of doing sports barefoot and my laziness to take care of my feet lead to this situation. Shame on me, I know.
so to solve my feet problems my mom gave me this Dr. Scholl kit. I must say, I've been using it for a couple of weeks and I am quite impressed, especially with the Express Pedi that gently remove areas of hard skin.

The kit contains the Express Pedi, the soothing foot soak which contains green caviar, sea serum and vitamin E to clean and smooth the skin, and also an intensive serum that is only the first ever foot serum on the market and contains hyaluronic acid, green caviar and Pentavitin and is especially designed to tackle extremely dry skin, its powerful ingredients help keep skin hydrated.

Get your skin ready for summer: Tips

Beach days are here and I've decided to compile a list of tips to help you getting a fabulous skin during summer.

- Moisturize is the buzzword! Drink at least 2 liters of water a day and don't forget to moisturize your body on a daily basis.

- A healthy diet is a must for the whole year. With that in mind, to help you preparing your skin for sun exposure and also to achieve a long lasting tan you should include these fruits and vegetables on your summer diet: pineapple, orange, lemon, watermelon, melon, strawberry, peach, watercress, sweet potatoes, beets, broccoli, carrots, spinach and tomato.

- Sun exposure. Never forget to put sunscreen and  reapply it throughout the day. Wear a hat and avoid sun exposure during the biggest heat hours.

- Skin care. Besides the daily moisturizing routine I suggest a weekly body exfoliation, this way you remove any dead cells, leaving the skin smoother and ready for a uniform suntan. Unfortunately (for me at least) baths should be taken with tepid or cold water as hot water dries the skin.

Superfoods #Goji Berries

Who hasn't heard about goji berries?!
Apparently, a few years ago there weren't many people on the occidental world who knew about its super benefits. In fact, Goji berries have been used for thousand of years in Tibet and China as a culinary and mecinal ingredient.

Goji berries are the most nutritionally dense fruit on Earth, becoming unique because they contain all essential amino acids and also have the highest concentration of protein of any fruit. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, unsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants and polysaccharides.
It's the fruit with the highest amount of Vitamin C (has more than an orange, for example), boasts 15 times the amount of iron found in spinach, as well as calcium, zinc, selenium and many other important trace minerals. It also contains natural anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal compounds.

They have potential benefits against cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, vision problems, neurological and immune system, and anti-carcinogenic properties are also linked to them.
It is an anti-aging fruit par excellence, increasing energy levels, helping the digestive process and weight loss.

Please note, that if you are taking medication for diabetes, or blood pressure, or take the blood thinner warfarin goji berries might have side effects, therefore, you should consult your doctor.

You can mix it with other fruits, as well as yogurts, cereals, salads, juices or smoothies.

The Green Juice Mania!

Green juices and the fitness mania are totally in nowadays. Hopefully, the healthier lifestyle becomes a way of life instead of a trend. Eating better (healthier meals) and regular exercice should be present into everyone's daily routine.
Lately, I've seen "green juices"  all over the place. Magazines, on the news, blogs, websites, facebook, instagram,..., you name it!
After some research I've decided to make some attempts on these juices. I went for simple recipes for starters, and little by little introducing more vegetables.
These juices are a great way to consume those vegetables that you normally don't eat, and also eating them raw because when they're cooked they loose some important properties and nutrients.

Here it is the Green Juice number 1:

Ingredients:

  an hand full of spinach
  1 apple
  1 banana
a tea spoon of chia seeds
  water

Add all ingredients (don´t forget to wash the spinach!) and put them on a blender

Et voilá!

Here it is the result, healthy and delicious! :)
